Resolve B2B Disputes -- Economically, Expeditiously, and Confidentially
On October 19, 2009, the 25,000 - member Association of Corporate Counsel released a study focusing on the members' top five concerns.
Fully 81% of the 2,000 legal departments surveyed answered "reducing outside legal spending". By comparison, 60% cited their shrinking internal legal budgets.
Our November 12th Program will address how to reduce legal spending through mediation and arbitration. In view of the ACC study, the timing for this Program is particularly appropriate.
Panelists:
Judith P. Meyer- Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators and a Distinguished Fellow of the International Academy of Mediators
Sandra Schultz Newman- Retired Justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court
Stephen G. Yusem- Co-Chair of the American Bar Association Arbitration Committee and Vice-Chair of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee
Panelists will share perspectives on:
- Mediation: a neutral professional, selected by the parties, facilitates the parties' negotiation of a B2B settlement.
- Arbitration: an arbitrator, with specialized expertise, selected by the parties, decides the B2B dispute on a final basis.
- Litigation: A judge or jury, usually without specialized expertise, bound by formal procedural rules, decides the B2B dispute in a public arena, subject to multiple levels of appeal.
