Medical Device Group panel discussion
and golf outing is most recent in series
of networking and educational events
Medical device, instrumentation and medical diagnostics companies have their own unique issues, regulations and business environment.
Each quarter, the Eastern Technology Council’s Medical Device Group meets to network and discuss the latest trends, government initiatives and other topics relevant to their industry.
The most recent event was a June panel discussion about “The Impact of Life Science Investments,” moderated by Jennifer Miller, Partner, Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP. The panelists were Adele Oliva, Partner, Quaker Bioventures, Inc.; Connie Fogarty, Executive Director, Business Development, AstraZeneca; Gary Kurtzman, Vice President, Life Science Group, Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.; and Kathy Crothell, Principal, Liberty Ventures Partners (formerly CEO of Animas).
The panel discussion was followed by a golf outing with senior executives from life sciences companies. The event was sponsored by Safeguard Scientifics, Inc.; Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll, LLP; and Ernst & Young.
The next Medical Device Group event, a panel discussion about reimbursement, is now being planned for a future date.
Previous 2009 events have included a Senior Executive Roundtable, “Exit Strategies for Life Science Companies,” facilitated by Chris Cashman of Protez Pharmaceuticals; a CEO Symposium at the Chemical Heritage Foundation; and “Coming Changes at the FDA and What it Means for Medical Device Companies,” featuring speaker Jonathan Sackner-Bernstein, M.D., Director of Post Market Operations, Center for Devices and Radiologic Health.
