Healthy Humans CEO Anthony Gold
new Chair of Council’s CIO Institute

Anthony Gold, CEO of Healthy Humans, is the newly appointed Chair of the Eastern Technology Council’s CIO Institute, a regional support and networking group for senior IT professionals. The CIO Institute stimulates technological competencies through monthly technology forums, CIO Roundtables, peer-to-peer networking and other exclusive events and initiatives.

Laplante stepping down after nine years

The CIO Institute’s previous leader, Phil Laplante, Professor of Software Engineering at Penn State Great Valley, was also Chief Technology Officer of the Eastern Technology Council. He is stepping down from both Council positions to head the Software Engineering Licensure Exam Preparation Committee. The committee falls under the National Council of Engineering Examiners and is responsible for writing the exam that all software engineers will need to pass in order to be licensed as a Professional Engineer in any state that requires licensure.

“What a pleasure it is for me to look back on the last nine years of the CIO Institute,” says Laplante. “I think its viability has been proven by the fact that the Institute has thrived through good times and bad. I’m sorry to have to leave, but I’m delighted that my friend Anthony Gold will be keeping the vision alive and I wish him the best of luck.”

Gold has deep experience in field

Gold’s company, Healthy Humans, is a doctor-directed Web portal helping people with chronic illness lead healthier lives. Healthy Humans is demonstrating greatly improved health outcomes at greatly reduced costs. The underlying engines are built on many open source and Web 2.0 components.

Gold is also President of the Open Solutions Alliance (OSA), a non-profit global organization focused on addressing the interoperability of open source among business infrastructures. The OSA consists of over 20 members, including some of the hottest open source companies. Gold also was recently chosen to chair the Healthcare Working Group for the Open Source for America coalition.

Previously, Gold was Vice President and General Manager of the startup Open Source Business within the $6 billion Unisys Corporation. In that role, he led a team of nearly 1,000 personnel distributed across 100 countries and built deep channels into several industries with particular emphasis on the U.S. federal and state government, financial services, telecommunications, healthcare and higher education sectors. Within two years of its creation, this business generated several hundred million dollars in revenue. Gold was named one of the “top business leaders who matter the most” by LinuxWorld magazine.
